While Dordt University seniors have been anticipating graduation since the beginning of this semester, if not earlier, and the advancement, admissions, and registrar’s offices have been planning official ceremony events since February, another group of off-campus stakeholders have also spent over a year preparing for this momentous event: Hotel owners.

Just a few weeks ago, Mylia Wagenaar never imagined she would be Dordt University’s next student body Vice President. However, that is exactly what will be the case come the 2024-2025 school year, after Wagenaar won the Vice-Presidential election two weeks ago.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Mar. 20, The Future Leaders And Mission Entrepreneurs Club—better known as the FLAME Club—departed for their semesterly trip. After a seven-hour bus ride, they spent the night between Madison and Milwaukee, Wis. On Thursday, their first stop was MLG Capital, a real estate investment company. The unique investment type of MLG Capital was interesting to many of the club members, and shed some light on how individuals can utilize certain tax laws to their advantage.
Few majors have contests that provide real-world experience at a global level. However, this opportunity is very well for five Dordt University students. The business finance majors competed at the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge, and won at the state level.
Starting in the Fall of 2024 Dordt University class schedules are undergoing a time shift. All classes will begin at 8:10 a.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. Registrar Jim Bos said an updated schedule has been in the works for the past few years to accommodate the need for more class time.
